Each of the Mary Rogers' heart pins are created by collaging and layering a variety of metals.
Every pattern plate is unique, created by texturing the metal with handmade Japanese papers and stamping
with tools. Highlights are individually hand burnished.
In these pins, Shibuichi, a Japanese alloy of copper and fine silver is used to create a colored pattern
surface in combination with 22K Gold and Fine Silver. Shibuichi patinas to a green/bronze color
and then that area is sealed with lacquer to stabilize and protect the patina surface.
General clean up on the silver and gold areas can be done with a jeweler’s polishing cloth.
“Dip” type cleaners are not recommended. If the silver becomes extremely tarnished, rub gently with a
paste of baking soda and dish detergent avoiding the sealed Shibuichi areas.
I hope these pieces bring you many years of pleasure.
